Nathaniel Hackett Parents: Who are Nathaniel Hackett’s Parents? – After working as an assistant coach at Stanford and UC Davis, Nathaniel Hackett began his NFL career in 2006 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers under Jon Gruden.

He spent two years there before making the switch to the Buffalo Bills, where he played the same position in 2008 and 2009.

He worked with quarterbacks like Brian Brohm, Bruce Gradkowski, Chris Simms, Jeff Garcia, Ryan Fitzpatrick, and Chris Simms during those years.

2010 saw the hiring of Hackett by Syracuse as Doug Marrone’s tight ends and quarterbacks coach. Later, Hackett went to Buffalo and Jacksonville with Marrone. Hackett was promoted to offensive coordinator the following year.

Hackett returned to Buffalo as the offensive coordinator when the Bills hired Marrone as their head coach in 2013. The Bills had halfbacks C. J. Spiller and Fred Jackson and quarterbacks EJ Manuel, Thad Lewis, and Jeff Tuel that season, but their passing offense was ranked 29th.

The Bills finished with a more respectable passing offense when Kyle Orton replaced Manuel at quarterback the following season, but the run game suffered.

After the 2014 season, Marrone exercised his right to leave his contract with the Bills, and Hackett joined him when he was hired by the Jacksonville Jaguars as an offensive line coach and assistant head coach. Hackett was promoted from quarterbacks coach to interim offensive coordinator in 2016 after the Jaguars fired Greg Olson, the team’s previous offensive coordinator, and Marrone was appointed interim head coach following Gus Bradley’s dismissal.

Hackett oversaw the league’s top rushing attack in 2017, working with running back Leonard Fournette and quarterback Blake Bortles to help Jacksonville win the AFC South and advance to the AFC Championship game.

Hackett was hired as offensive coordinator by Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur on January 14, 2019.

In 2020, Hackett and star quarterback Aar on Rodgers led the Packers to the league’s highest scoring offense.

The Denver Broncos fired their previous head coach, Vic Fangio, on January 27, 2022, and hired Hackett in his place.

With more than a minute remaining in the fourth quarter and the Broncos facing a 4th-and-5 at midfield against the Seattle Seahawks, Hackett faced criticism in his head coaching debut. Despite having three timeouts, Hackett decided to let the clock run down to 20 seconds in order to attempt the game-winning 64-yard field goal.

Hackett was chastised for his clock management in the Broncos’ week two game against the Houston Texans, which Denver won 16-9.

Following that, the Broncos hired Jerry Rosburg as an assistant to Hackett to assist him with game and clock management, beginning with their week three game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Hackett was fired on December 26 after the Broncos fell to 4-11 after a 51-14 Christmas Day loss to the Los Angeles Rams. He was replaced by interim head coach Jerry Rosburg.

After Lou Holtz in 1976, Pete McCulley in 1978, Bobby Petrino in 2007, and Urban Meyer in 2021, he became the fifth head coach to fail to complete his first season.
